Bills' Weather Policy
Since we have many new families as a part of the Bills' organization, we felt it a good time to remind everyone of our weather policy and how it pertains to practices being cancelled.
Generally speaking, the AD and the Asst. AD and the Cheer Coordinator make this decision for the Keystone Bills. Head coaches for both cheer and football are in communication with these leaders and follow their decisions accordingly.
Two General Rules of Thumb:
1)ALWAYS plan to come to the field unless you are notified not to by the Head Coach or the organization.
2)As the parent, you are always in charge of your child and can decide to keep your child off the field.
That being said, our AD, Coach Lonnie, and our Asst AD, Coach Cruz and Coach Jesus, and our Cheer Coordinator, Coach Jalyssa, consider several things in this decision. Typically, practice/game cancellations or delays are tied to lightening and not to the rain at all. It may be pouring rain and thundering and lightening at your house, but perfectly beautiful at the field, so always come unless you hear different. There have been instances where the fields are too wet, but that is not usually the case. There may be times where cheer is called off, but not football, and other times where both are called off, but this is a very rare occurrence.
Please know that this is always being monitored when weather could be in question, so it is not necessary to call and text to ask....we will let you know! Because this is a volunteer organization, it is tough to be at our places of employment and get dozens of calls and texts from parents all day long, so our procedure is set up that we will notify the organization if there is any change.
Please also remember, we have our own kids involved in football and/or cheer, so we are quite aware as parents that you need to be notified if there is a change, hence, unless you hear from us, always plan to come to the field. The goal is to make a decision no later than 5:30 on any given practice day. Sometimes, practice may begin and then lightening comes-the kids are pulled under shelter-then the storm passes-and practice resumes.
